GoRuck to bring first rucking event to Colorado on May 9th; proceeds benefit Team Red, White, and Blue and The Green Beret Foundation

Colorado Springs, CO (April 14, 2015) — The Macalan Group, Inc., a global servicing defense contractor headquartered in Colorado Springs, and owner of MainNerve, announced today that they are sponsoring GoRuck’s “Go Ruck and Kill That 5K,” an event unlike any other 5k.

GoRuck produces military-grade rucks and host several events and challenges nationwide throughout the year. This 5k event is aimed at bringing together the community to socialize and bond through exercise. “With most 5k runs, people show up early in the morning, eat a banana, race and go home without ever talking to others or meeting someone new,” says Jason McCarthy, founder of GoRuck and former Ft. Carson Special Forces soldier.

“Our 5k is a completely different model. People fill their rucks (backpacks) with whatever weight they want, — which becomes an equalizer – and ‘ruck’ the 5k while talking with all new folks. You pick the weight. Anything more than nothing is rucking as long as you’re having fun,” says McCarthy.

The event is for all ages and abilities and finishes with dollar beers provided by Stone Brewery, another event sponsor. GORUCK has partnered at the national level with Team Red, White and Blue to support their mission of enriching the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. “Kill That 5K” fits the bill and GORUCK will donate $5 from every paid registration to Team RWB.

“Our goal is to get people to be more physical and socially active together,” says McCarthy.
